A local photographer managed to capture high-resolution photographs of a military helicopter as it flew over his garden earlier today (April 29).

The detail displayed, with such close proximity to the ground, is phenomenal. One photo even appears to show a crew member eating lunch onboard the aircraft.

Andy Mcgarty, who lives in Fenny Bridges, is a member of the Honiton Camera Club and when he heard the helicopter flying nearby he instinctively grabbed his camera.

He told Nub News: "It was flying overhead extremely low and creating quite a din - I keep a few chickens and they were a bit unsettled by it.

"I managed to take the shots stood in my garden. It looks like it was a Royal Navy Merlin.

"In one of the photos it looks like they are eating their MREs for lunch."

Honiton Nub News contacted The Royal Navy press office for a comment and are awaiting a response.

"I think they were just having fun flying to be honest," added Andy.
