Having enjoyed a successful initial six months of business operating as a garden centre, the Combe Estate run establishment has now officially opened an adjoining restaurant and shop area.

Called 'The Kitchen', the 85-seat eatery caters for breakfast, light bites as well as main meals. It also serves as a cafe offering freshly made coffees, speciality teas and a selection of cakes and sweet treats.

Yesterday (June 17) marked the official first day of opening. Nub News caught up with restaurant manager, Kimberley Astley-Jones, to find out how things were going.

She said: "We are very happy to have seen so many people already, although it has taken us a bit by surprise. It's a huge learning curve, but we'll get there!"

When asked about the menu, she said: "It's a very nice menu. We've kept it quite small for the moment and then we can expand it when we know what people want. I really tried to keep the prices down as well as I could."

She added: "We are all learning, so fingers crossed people will like it."
