Police appeal for witnesses after a man from Honiton is killed in fatal collision

A fatal collision took place in Dunkeswell this morning (July 23) and a man, who was from Honiton, has died.

The police were called to an incident at approximately 12.30am. The collision involved a blue Volkswagen Golf. The crash took place on an unnamed road near Blackdown Hills Cross Country.

A 23-year-old male was pronounced dead at the scene and four other passengers were taken to hospital to be checked.

A man in his 20s, who is also from the Honiton area, was arrested for causing death by dangerous driving and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. He remains in police custody.

An investigation has been launched into the causes of the crash and the road was closed for eight hours to allow a Roads Policing Team to examine the scene.

The police are appealing for witnesses, particularly anyone who might be in possession of dashcam footage or those travelling through the area at the time.
