Police issue appeal after man, 33, dies in M5 crash with HGV

Police have issued an appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage after a 33-year-old male pedestrian died in a collision with an HGV yesterday (Tuesday 1 February).

The crash took place on the northbound carriageway of the M5 between Exeter and Cullompton.

The police and ambulance service were called to the scene at around 4.05am.

The pedestrian, described as a local man, died at the scene. His next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by family liaison officers.

The driver of the HGV stopped at the scene and is helping police with the investigation.

Road closures and diversions were in place for several hours for police to investigate.
