The Honiton Neighbourhood Police Team have warned residents about a scam allegedly 'doing the rounds'.

In a tweet posted on their Twitter account today (November 29), the local policing team alerted people about a 'scam letter', appearing to be from a bank and stating that the recipient has inherited a large sum of money.

"Reminds me of the sad story of Think Jessica," the tweets adds - referring to a charity set up to protect elderly and vulnerable people from scams.

People are reminded to 'talk to friends, family and neighbours about telephone, email and postal scams' and to report anything suspicious.
