Property Fire at Brook Street, Ottery St Mary

Date: 14.09.2018Time: 08:59Location: Brook Street, Ottery St MaryThree fire engines from Ottery, Honiton and Sidmouth were mobilised to reports of smoke coming from a property above a shop in Brook Street. On arrival crews confirmed there was fire coming from the roof and an aerial appliance was requested to attend which was mobilised from Danes Castle in Exeter. At 0923hrs crews made pumps 6 and a further 3 fire engines were mobilised from Middlemoor, Sidmouth and Danes Castle.The building consists of 3 floors measuring approx. 10m x 20m. The fire is located in the 2nd floor and the roof. Crews are at work extinguishing the fire using 4 breathing apparatus, 2 hose reel jets, 1 main jet, 1 safety jet, along with the use of the aerial appliance. Police have been requested for road closure and traffic control along with the highways and a building control officer has been requested to attend from the local council. Further update to follow.
