Storm Hannah expected to bring travel disruption to Honiton area
Residents are warned to brace themselves over the weekend as Storm Hannah brings gale force winds and heavy rain to the region.
Widespread disruption to travel has been predicted for the coming days across East Devon.
The MET Office has issued a yellow weather warning, with the roads bus and train services likely to be affected. It comes as Storm Hannah is expected to arrive to southern parts of the UK on Friday evening, bringing with it 70mph gales.
Short term loss of power is possible due to fallen branches and high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges are likely to experience delays.
Coastal communities and sea fronts could be extra hazardous, with large waves and sea spray expected, so people are advised to exercise extra caution in these areas.
A day-by-day forecasting of the weekend's weather is as follows.
Friday should start out bright and breezy, with rain spreading across the region throughout the day. A spell of sunshine could prevail during the afternoon, before giving way to heavy rain and strong winds arriving in the evening and carrying on into the night. Maximum temperatures will be in the mid-teens, at around 14 C.
Saturday will see a slight dip in the temperature, with gales and spells of heavy rain. Sunday should see most of the stormy weather behind us, with skies brighter and drier, although there could still be a spattering of showers throughout the day.
Further rain looks set for the beginning of next week, rounding off a month of April showers.
