Sharon Thorne, TRIP Deputy Manager, was today thrilled to hand Gordon Philipps, on behalf of the Trustees, a Long Service award for over 10 years working with TRIP.

Gordon is one of the much loved regular drivers, when he got the award unexpectedly today, he said: "It's nice to be appreciated. I love my job and it's the people that I meet that keep me going."

Sharon said she often takes calls from TRIP service users who say, 'can they book on Gordon's bus' or 'what trips is Gordon doing this week'.

Sharon said: "It's lovely that the passengers enjoy his company and he really goes that extra mile to help them when they're out and about.

"He is an asset to the TRIP team and because of that Carol Eastley, Trustee Chair, wanted to start these award to reflect the gratitude of the board to those who help make TRIP work."

Sharon went on to say that given these uncertain times, having someone like Gordon onboard helps reassure people and that his work to help keep people safe, following the cleaning/social distancing measure in place, and having a trusted face is important to help support people to get back out shopping and enjoying the company of others.
