A new chiropractic clinic joins a number of independently owned businesses breathing life back into the town's historic Dolphin Court.

Heather Foster has set up East Devon Chiropractic, opposite the former Dolphin Hotel in the heart of Honiton, due to open its doors on February 19.

Honiton Nub News went to check out the new premises and speak to Heather about her business venture.

She said: "I started out as a biomedical scientist, however a series of incidents led me to retrain as a chiropractor.

"It was actually my own experience of receiving treatment, after being rear-ended in a car and suffering for a long time, that led me down this route.

"The practitioner I saw was amazing and completely fixed me, whilst also suggesting that I would make a good chiropractor – that was ten years ago now."

Talking about how she came to set up her own business here in Honiton, Heather explained: "I worked for a number of years at another chiropractic clinic in the town before deciding to go it alone.

"My family and I moved to Colyton six years ago, but before I was born my parents lived in Honiton so I've always felt a connection to the town."

Dolphin Court, just off the High Street in Honiton, has seen a recent revival with a number of notable businesses now located there.

Soon-to-be Chilcotts Auctioneers are currently renovating the old Dolphin Hotel; The Nook, offering bespoke office space, occupies what was King Rollo studios, opposite Day Aggregates, with popular, family-run cafe, The Little Shop of Seasons, sitting pretty on the corner.

Heather said: "Dolphin Court is one of the friendliest places – I love it. Everyone I've met has been so helpful while my parents and I have been busy refurbishing the premises.

"This place was empty for quite a while, the same as a few of these newly-owned premises – it just feels like there's a little bit of regeneration going on.

"There's a really nice sense of community where we are, tucked just off the High Street, it's lovely!"
