WBW Solicitors announce partnership to raise vital funds for young people with cancer
Inspired by a member of staff, whose daughter received a shock cancer diagnosis, WBW Solicitors has teamed up with a cancer charity for children and young people to raise vital funds and awareness.
Will Vine, Partner at WBW Solicitors, has inspired WBW to choose CLIC Sargent for their partner of the year after his daughter, Lily, was diagnosed with cancer in June 2020.
She has received support from the charity through a CLIC Sargent social worker and staying at their Home from Home in Bristol when Lily has treatment.
The partnership, which started 9 March 2021, will last for one year and will see fundraising activities take place such as fitness challenges, sweepstakes and the £50 challenge to support the charity's work.
The WBW team have set themselves the ambitious target of raising £10,000 towards the charity's efforts over the next twelve months.
CLIC Sargent is the UK's leading cancer charity for children, young people and their families. Its care teams provide specialist support across the UK.
The charity supports people from diagnosis onwards and aims to help the whole family deal with the impact of cancer and its treatment, life after treatment and, in some cases, bereavement.
Commenting on the new partnership, Will Vine, said: "Like many, I did not appreciate the indispensable work done by CLIC Sargent until it was needed.
"They were there for us from the point of diagnosis, and for every up and down of the journey along the way.
"It means the world to me that WBW are supporting CLIC Sargent this year, ensuring that the charity can continue to help other families like ours."
Last year in Devon, CLIC Sargent supported 170 families, giving out 104 financial grants to the value of £24,104 helping families to cope with the costs of cancer.
The Cancer Costs report from the charity found that families with a child on active treatment spend an extra £600 a month.
Stephanie Parker, Fundraising Engagement Manager for Devon at CLIC Sargent, said: "We are hugely grateful for the support of WBW Solicitors. The money raised will help CLIC Sargent provide specialist support, to help and guide families like Lily's.
"We know that 12 more children and young people are diagnosed every day and it is vital that we can be there for them, individually, locally and nationally. We rely entirely on donations for our work, so support like this is absolutely crucial."
