The meeting follows last months' meeting which was deemed inquorate - and therefore invalid - due to attendance issues surrounding five councillors who all joined from one device.

For this reason, decisions made during that meeting are no longer standing and have been brought forward onto the August agenda.

A key item previously resolved by members of the council was to elect a new Deputy Mayor, following the resignation of Duncan Sheridan-Shaw back in April of this year.

Carol Gilson had been nominated and subsequently elected as Deputy Mayor.

The Mayoral position will remain as it is, with Cllr John Zarczynski.

As stated in the agenda: "The Council does not need to elect a Mayor as Cllr Zarczynski is still in post.

"If Members do resolve to hold an annual meeting, then it will need to elect a Chairman/Mayor as the first item of business."

Other items up for discussion in Part A of the agenda are:

  • Committee/Working Groups membership and appointments
  • Council Vacancies
  • Annual Governance and Accountability Return for the year ending 31 March 2020
  • Honiton Community Complex and The Beehive - the impact of Covid-19
  • HR and current staffing matters

Recommended for Part B, is for members to discuss the current and ongoing staffing issues at Honiton Town Council.
