Devon and Cornwall Police are recruiting a Police Enquiry Officer for Honiton's Police Station, which reopens later this year. 

Earlier this year it was announced that Honiton's Police Station would reopen to members of the public in 2023. It is currently an operational base for staff but is closed to the public.

Stations will also reopen in Okehampton and Kingsbridge.

Honiton's station is one of a number of locations which will now reopen to members of the public who wish to report a crime or speak with an officer. 

The enquiry desk will be open from 10am - 3pm Monday to Saturday.

About the role 

Salary: Starts at £23,100 rising by yearly increments to a maximum of £25,353 per annum

Contract: Permanent 

Hours: Successful candidates will work 4 x 5-hour days a week following a three-week rotating shift pattern. 

About the role 

  • The successful applicant will be the first point of contact for reported crimes and incidents raised by the public via 101 or a visit to the station. 
  • The person will respond to a wide range of enquiries, including offering advice, information and guidance on legislation, policing responsibilities, police complaints and offer 'signposting' to other organisations. 
  • The individual will receive and record information appropriately and accurately and deal supportively with witnesses, victims and members of the public. 

About the candidate 

Devon and Cornwall Police are looking for someone with a proven customer focus approach, excellent communication skills, the ability to work under challenging circumstances and good team working skills.

The successful application will also need knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Word with the ability to use multiple bespoke IT systems (or similar) as well as a full driving licence (unless prevented by reason of disability.)
