A yellow wind warning has been issued for Devon by the Met Office, as Storm Evert is due to sweep across the south west.

The warning takes effect at 8pm this evening (Thursday, July 29) and ends at midday on Friday.

Honiton's Air Ambulance charity shop is appealing for donations to restock its shelves and clothes rails.

The shop can now accept donations without the need to book a visit – just come along and drop them in.

It's 'the biggest day of the summer' for Honiton – and this year's Charter Day on Saturday is going to be even bigger than usual.

Motorsport enthusiasts will be out in force this weekend for the Wiscombe Park Hillclimb – the first that spectators will be allowed to attend since 2019.

Wiscombe Park is situated in a steep wooded valley, just south of Honiton, and the hillclimb forms one of the rounds of the British Hillclimb Championships, attracting entries from all over the UK.

A strategy for better protecting East Devon's trees looks set to be introduced by the district council.

At its meeting yesterday evening (Tuesday, July 27) the council unanimously agreed to condemn the practice of felling trees on sites which are soon to be the subject of planning applications.

"Absolutely brilliant" was the verdict on yesterday's Honiton Hot Pennies from the Town Crier, Dave Retter.

Proposals aimed at protecting East Devon's trees from destruction by developers go before district councillors tomorrow (Tuesday, July 27).

A motion brought by Cllr Jess Bailey will ask the council to introduce a 'robust' policy which includes proactively making Tree Protection Orders, and supporting town and parish councils in safeguarding trees in their neighbourhoods.
