A piece of land off Silver Street, on which Honiton Cattle Market has operated for many years, is currently sitting with a big question mark hanging over it.

It has become apparent that the site is up for sale and property developers, Churchill, have proposed to build retirement flats there - a proposal that will be discussing at a consultation being held at Mackarness Hall from 5-7pm this evening.

It has been reported that Fountain Antiques on Honiton High Street was broken into over the weekend and items of jewellery stolen.

According to a statement issued by the shop on social media: "Thousands of pounds worth of gold rings and silver mainly taken. Please keep aware and contact the police if you are offered any large quantities."

Honiton fire services called were to a blaze at a property in Allercombe in Rockbeare at 8am this morning.
