Woz On - Honiton to take on local team Chard this weekend

Borris has done a deal! Guess what - it's another 'sausage trifle' that no one is that keen on.

Some say it's worse that 'Maybot's' last offering!

Personally I think most of the public are saying 'whatever, I'll eat it, just serve it up'.

All done to just put a stop to it going on and on. Obviously, the MP's are the ones who can still put the kibosh on the whole thing and they probably will and on it will go.

Looking for yet another, different 'sausage trifle' to serve up. On the other hand, you never know, some of them might actually be just as sick as Joe Public and just say "ok, we give in, serve it up."

England are playing the Aussies tomorrow but it's at 8am. We were going to try and do another breakfast at the club but we've had little response - in fact no response, so we ain't doing it and I guess all of you who are not working can now watch it with your Jimmies on at home.

I think most would prefer this anyway, so understand the lack of response. Eddie's made some changes in the back division - is it right? I'm not so sure, the last proper win we had was against the Irish with the Ford/Farrell combo.

For me, Slade blows hot 'n' cold, so I'm not so sure about the choice - we shall see.

Cracking Scotland Japan game by the way, loved the fact both sides chucked the ball about.

Brother-in-law sent me pictures of the typhoon from the safety of the hotel. They were banned from going out whist it roared.

I guess given the destruction and deaths, one can't really blame the officials for calling the games off that day!

On to the Ton - bit of a difficult days' rugger up at Bideford last Saturday.

They have a fair set up there and the ground was self contained with nice new changing rooms.

They also had a healthy crowd watching, all of whom paid £4 to get in!

We were a bit miffed on arrival as the twos game was called off up there. This was because of an alleged waterlogged pitch.

The reason for our 'miffedness' was because their second team pitch is right next door to the first team one! And that one was actually perfect to play on. I casually mentioned it to their coach.

He said that maybe they were a bit hasty with the call-off, but he did say it does get boggy in one corner.

I can's help but think they may have had player issues as their real reason for the cancellation - hey ho we can't call them liars.

Anyway to the game - we got a bit of a pasting in the first half and whilst our injury woes and unavailabilities are an issue, if we were honest we didn't really turn up until it was too late!

Actually, when we did decide to play we surprised ourselves and we actually won the second half by two tries to one.

However, the damage was already done with the 36-0 half time score. Mind, I will say their forwards were pretty big and when I was watching them warm up, an enormous prop called to his fellow prop, who was even bigger than him.

He called him 'Fridge', I guess this nickname is based on his size! I'd say he was named after one of those American double door ones! Needless to say, all afternoon we had a torrid time in the scrums.

We've got to dig deep now. There was a players' meeting on Tuesday and I know everyone is working hard to try and get us out of the rut.

I rushed back to do a pitch inspection for our Sunday games and given the forecast of rain all night and the sodden pitches we made the early call to cancel.

It was the sensible call and I notice our games against Cully away were also cancelled in the morning.

I know it was a disappointment but at least it meant everyone could watch the Japan - Scotland game, which was a real treat given some of the dour games I've seen up to now.

To this weekend - we have a new local derby against Chard. Given they are a Somerset side, the league structures means our paths have just not crossed over many a year.

So, despite being 13 miles apart, we haven't played them at first team level for years, apart from an odd trial game.

They had a good win last weekend and we didn't, but they are just above us in the table so it could be a good game.

We'd love to have your support. It's the last of our 3pm kick off's, as the clocks go back next weekend.

The twos or the Otters are away to Kerton in mid Devon, which is also a league game so good luck to them as well.

Sunday (with new shirts at last) our juniors are in action. The 14's are at home against Withycombe, the 11's and 12's have cup games and the rest of the clan are away down at Withy's place.

Let's hope I have something positive to chat about next week!
