Saturday I had to play in a golf final whilst the England game was on, not ideal planning I must say.

I raced home after the match without speaking to anyone, so I was able to watch the game not knowing the score which was great.

Once again, a sending off spoilt it a bit but there was no doubt about that card this time and we won!

Need you ask about the golf? Of course is the answer, just letting you know in case you are the only person I haven't told yet!

I'm still avoiding politics - so no comment here on the ridiculous situation our politicians have put us in.

Still, if 75% of the MP's actually want to remain - what do we expect? They are never going to vote on a deal that isn't virtually the same as staying in.

Now for the Ton news - on the field, life is tough at the moment, as I've mentioned several times this season.

We have a small, but good squad, however injuries have hit us hard.

I was speaking to our injured skipper Harry who pointed out that we have nine on the injury list and not just niggles, but bones and ligaments which aren't quick fixes.

Charlie, Brooksy and Brendon must be pulling their hair out trying to juggle resources to get a side out each week!

Saturday saw us take on Wellington who are now in second place. For those watching, there was a healthy crowd and it was a good game against a good side and I don't think I'm out of turn when I say that the score didn't really reflect the game.

They took their chances well and we didn't. For example, in the second half we were in their 22 for 15 minutes with out scoring, they break out and score.

Frustrating for sure, but it is a sport which is all about taking your chances and they did deserve the win when all said and done.

We came away with nought and also lost another player in Will Goulden with a knee injury that puts him out for several weeks, which is a bit of a disaster - on it goes!

Still, there was another good lunch put on for our sponsors Jewsons and nice to see some old players on the guest list, who I chin-wagged with afterwards.

Thanks as always to Ally and B*ggeroff for the grub, but also to those who jumped into help with serving up etc.

Special thanks to Lorna and Gordie who did the players food afterwards as well.

Thanks also to Clare, Jo, Julie and Teresa, who all put in a long shift behind the bar. I confess to making a hasty retreat when all the shot glasses came out! A good night was had by all.

Sunday the club hosted the town's Tri-Athlon, which all went very well and looked very well organised.

Ally rustled up bacon baps and made a bob or two for the club and Clare manned the bar that was probably, understandably, not that well patronised. As athletes, they are fit 'body's a temple' people and beer swilling ain't on the agenda.

Just a quick mention, someone asked me about where the fixtures were. As I said to him they're all on the website and we are one of the few that has match reports etc. on there too. Type Honiton RFC into Google and the site should come up.

So, on to this week - we have the ones and twos off up to Bideford. We are obviously a bit patched up but hey ho, we'll give it a go.

Good news though, Paz has declared himself fit and he will be running the line. I imagine a tad better than me.

Sunday we have a full yuff programme on offer, with the 14's, 12's and 10's at home to Cully and the rest away at Cully's ground.

I'm a tad concerned about the weather reports, which comes on top of what has been a pretty miserable, wet week.

So early warning to all, we will have to have a look at it early Sunday morning.

Still a bit miffed about the junior shirt suppliers, who are still stalling regarding the delivery date, which is now 3 weeks over due! We are not amused.

That's about it. Eyes peeled for more volunteers, benefactors, players, donations, freebies, sponsors etc. etc.

Oh, and a bit more luck if you can find it! Or, did we use our quota up last year?

Might have been good to have won the 176 million in the lottery this week. I just might have sent a shilling the club's way if I had won it - hey ho!
