Woz On - Two wins on the trot and next up Penryn
Woz On - right where to start? It's starting to get cold, might have to get my winter coat out at last.
What else? Erm... I put the bins out last night, which is always one of my highlights of the week. As I get even older, I'm guessing the excitement of doing this each week, will grow.
I'm looking forward to our winter election next week and again I can hardly contain my excitement.
As I've said before, I'm going to be so much better off whoever wins and I know that because each party has told me if I vote for them, that's what'll happen - so joy of joys!
Last Saturday, delight of delights, we didn't have to do a pitch inspection so all the games went ahead unabated.
Mind, it was bitterly cold for those of us who were watching at Tonsville and come the end of the game it was virtually dark! Guess what? We only went and won as well!
Thrashed 'em 27-26. Once again the injury 'bo*gie' was there and we again, lost three players to injury inside 20 minutes.
All three were from the second row department, which included one of our replacements who'd only just come on, so as you can imagine, we got shunted about a bit and with two quick scores from Wiveliscombe early in the second half, coming down the slope it looked odds on they'd go on to win.
Fair play to the boys, they dug deep and pulled it out of the bag and it was only a last play try that got the visitors to within a point but annoyingly, it meant they got two losing bonus points for scoring four tries and being within a score of us.
Still a win's a win. That's two on the trot!
There was no second team game but there was a full programme of games for the junior section who mostly played Taunton at home.
I'll mention the Hawks this week. They are our under 11's and they had a good close win against tough opposition. Big thanks to Steve who always gets a good report done for the paper.
This Saturday somehow the Ones are home again as we entertain Penryn. Last year we played them three times! They won twice and we won that all important cup game in the dying seconds of the game.
I'll remind you, we were dead and buried, no time on the clock and from our own try line, Smith up the left, ball swung back right, Baily to Tyers and try time with the opposition left stunned!
They did end up as league champs and got promoted with us and I have to say, they are doing a little better than us at the moment and are occupying the top half of the league.
No doubt it will be tough game, but there's a sponsor lunch for our chums from Beer in PR Driver Blacksmiths.
I think my brother in-law has sneaked in on the invite and they are coming up by mini bus, so there should be some serious ale supping and some good support.
The Otters go over the hill to play the Mouse and that should be interesting fixture, with no love lost between the two sides mainly because I had to answer a letter of displeasure which I received from their committee last year!
They were less than impressed with our skippers after match speech and social 'meja' comment when we won - fair to say his words were a tad disparaging!
I had to have words in his shell like and lessons have been learnt and I'd say - social media is a dangerous thing!
You never know who reads your 'just in jest' posts!
I think we are just about on speaking terms with them now, so this one should also be an interesting encounter.
Sunday our Juniors play Tivvy right across the board.
The 14's, 12's and 11's are our home games so if you're passing by, pop in for a coffee and be inspired by the youth, who have a positive attitude to life and are to be found running around rather than being glued to a screens.
That's about it for this week. Thanks for the offers to cover one of the volunteering roles, unfortunately we still need more though for our junior section.
Did you know, doing something for others helps to stimulate your 'Vagus' nerve which is the thing that helps with your mental wellbeing!
I was told that fact at one of my work team meetings. Seriously though, we can't function and never have been able to, without volunteers.
So if you are already one of the 'massive', may I take this opportunity to thank you on behalf of the old girl - she's now a 136 years old.
