Gate To Plate II - The Flavour Strikes Back!

Well, what a great day!

Yet again the Gate to Plate event landed in Honiton to the throng of crowds, supporting players, musicians and local councillors all playing their part!

With a 5:30am start with the deputy town clerk, Helouise, I made my way to the Dowell street car park to play my part.

Stewarding is always a great way to get involved with a popular community event. I was there with Tony McCullom, Phil Twiss and Andrew Hopkins of EDDC to start the day off.

Car park full and duties done, I made my way from stall to stall - tasting, chatting and otherwise having a great time.

What a great variety of diverse foods to see, sample and enjoy!

Scotch eggs with black pudding, fruity gins & exciting African and Asian cuisine. And the cakes, well, they were exceptional!!

Town was buzzing with music from buskers, food demonstrations and the stalwart traders were out in force as well.

Despite a few showers, everyone seemed to be enjoying the day and actively getting involved.

Today you could get mops, buckets and bleach as well as fresh fruit, artisan chocolates and locally made cider - all on one historic street.

I look forward to next year and let's hope we have the same energy, commitment and drive from the stewards, officers and volunteers to achieve another fantastic event!

Personal thanks to all involved, you did Honiton proud - it's this level of positive collaboration that gets things done and makes ours a brilliant community.
