Honiton youth speaks out about election concerns
Elections for many young people can be terrifying, but especially this one.
For starters, we were denied the power for 16 and over to vote, because it would create delay. This is clearly a problem, as Brexit got dealt with the second it was passed and we got a good deal (oh, hang on...).
Many candidates for the election have also left an absence of how to register to vote on their websites, so even though the fresh 18 year olds and over CAN vote, many are shockingly lacking the knowledge of how.
Granted, the deadline for registering has now passed but this is still no excuse on not guiding the youths.
Furthermore, rumours of NHS sell-offs and the ramping up of prices for drugs puts a huge risk to working-class, disabled children, who are only surviving because of our NHS' underrated care.
It angers me personally that the service, a service set-up to pull us up from the terror of war, is even being discussed for the ramping up of drug costs and the like.
It's purpose was to be accessible for all, and it is grossly unjustified that that right is being taken from us youths when we have had no right to say, "we do not want this to happen".
If we youths cannot possess the right to vote, the least that a new government can do is to promise our safety.
We already suffer the most we ever have from mental health issues, please don't double or treble our struggles with the world already being so much more challenging than it was just ten years ago.
