A safety awareness campaign has been launched in Honiton and across East Devon to encourage Christmas party-goers to think before they drink to reduce the risk of inadvertently drink-driving the morning after.

According to Devon and Cornwall Police, there were 1,472 breath tests administered between December 1, 2018, and January 1, 2019. Thirteen percent (189) of these were positive, refused or failed, and of those 18% (34) were caught in the morning (between 5am and noon).

Several carers and cared from Honiton Carers Support Group joined the senior Honiton community celebrating the festive season at Honiton Community College on Tuesday 17 December, and what a fabulous event it was!

The students, who hosted the party and looked after us all throughout were just amazing.

We've had our third General Election campaign in four and a half years, and it's a credit to the people of Tiverton and Honiton that they found the enthusiasm to engage with our new policies and to go out to vote.

All the candidates were charming in person, and we were lucky here that all the campaign teams ran a reasonably civil contest.

Police are warning tractor owners to be extra vigilant after reports that GPS devices are being stolen from the vehicles.

Police have issued the following statement: "We have received reports of thefts of tractor GPS guidance systems.

Police wish to inform the public that 28-year-old Joshua Richards has now been located.

Richards, who has links to Ottery St Mary and Honiton was wanted on recall to prison.

Back in September of this year, Honiton mum of two, Lea Bamford setup a SEN Sports Group in town.

The sessions provide a sensory friendly, no expectation group for children with additional needs - so that they can access sports and social opportunities in the local area.

Bertie the four-foot teddy bear was donated to FORCE Cancer Charity back at the start of November, having travelled down to Devon from London by train.

Since then, he has enjoyed the hospitality of Honiton estate agents, Greenslade Taylor Hunt, who have been helping Bertie to find his 'forever home' - by selling raffle tickets in which Bertie was the main prize.

There are reports that a road traffic incident is causing delays on the A30 Westbound between Gosford Road and B3174 (Daisymount Cross).

One lane has been closed and traffic is said to be heavy.
