On Saturday 16 November 2019 Honiton and District Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Honiton Town Council are celebrating the start of the Christmas season.
There will be a Toy Fair in Mackarness Hall from 3 - 8pm and the Honiton Town Band will play around the town's Christmas tree in St. Paul's Church - with additional music after 5pm.

Councillors will have a chance to block controversial plans to hike car parking charges by 20 per cent in several East Devon car parks.
Earlier this month, the council's cabinet agreed to go out to consultation on plans that would see car park charges rise from £1 to £1.20 per hour in high demand car parks.

The Honiton Carnival Committee kicked-off Carnival week on Saturday morning with the crowning of Carnival Royalty during a sale in the Mackarness Hall.
Mr. Alan Rowe did the honours this year and crowned Sophia Long as this year's carnival royal.

Tesco Honiton donated £250 to the town's Christmas Lights Campaign today.
The money comes from an ongoing community book sale located in the stores' foyer.

Every year Honiton Town Council awards a series of funding grants to organisations working for, or helping the people of Honiton via community-based projects.
Application forms and the grant criteria are now available either from the Town Council Office (Beehive Honiton), by emailing [email protected] or by downloading them via the red button below.

A private meeting took place last Thursday between representatives from Honiton Town Council and Honiton Community Complex - the charity which runs The Beehive.
The two parties have been disputing the interpretation of the funding provisions contained within the 10 year lease agreement signed in 2015 to run The Beehive.
Force Cancer Charity has celebrated 12 months of funding chemotherapy for patients at Honiton hospital.
Tesco staff provided their weekly supply of fresh fruit for the patients and there was celebratory cake to mark the special occasion.

The Bishop of Exeter, the Right Reverend Robert Atwell, and the two Suffragan Bishops of Plymouth and Crediton, the Right Reverend Nick McKinnel and the Right Reverend Jackie Searle, have written to all the churches in East Devon for which they have responsibility with guidance about how to respond to Brexit anxiety in local communities.
The Bishops said they were responding to the worries of many in the county, particularly in the farming community, and their "concern at the deep divisions in our nation".
