NOSTALGIC CINEMA: PAL JOEY (PG)
The Beehive, Dowell Street, Honiton EX14 1LZ
Cinema
UNTIL Thursday 27th October
Joey Evans (Frank Sinatra) is a philandering San Francisco-based singer with big dreams of starting his own nightclub, 'Chez Joey', but chasing women keeps him even more occupied. Despite making a meaningful connection with lovely chorus girl Linda English (Kim Novak), it doesn't stop him from seducing the wealthy widow, and ex-burlesque dancer Vera Simpson (Rita Hayworth), who he hopes will bankroll his club. Ultimately, Joey has to decide who and what he most wants in life.
Dementia Friendly Cinemas have proven to be very therapeutic for people with memory problems and their families. Besides engaging the brain and stimulating emotions, being part of an audience enjoying a film helps people with dementia and their carers to feel less isolated and also challenges the stigma associated with the condition.
All Nostalgic Cinema performances have subtitles to assist full enjoyment of the film by any members of the audience who are hard of hearing.
Whilst promoted as a dementia-friendly screening, we hope anyone who loves the old films will come along for an afternoon of fond memories.
2pm at The Beehive
Tickets £4.50 - includes hot drink, biscuits and chat after the screening.
Duration 105 mins. Nostalgic Cinema Events are kindly sponsored by Home Instead and in partnership with Dementia-friendly Honiton.
