Figures released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) yesterday (May 1) show the number of deaths that have been recorded as a result of the coronavirus, by postcode area.

A map detailing postcode areas across the UK allows you to see exactly how many people have been killed by the virus where you live.

In Honiton one death has been recorded. This is compared to Sidmouth which has five and Ottery St Mary which also has one.

The statistics listed are for deaths where Covid-19 was the underlying cause or was mentioned on the death certificate as a contributory factor, between March 1 and April 17.

The UK has seen confirmed cases pass the 170,000 mark.

Thursday saw a further 6,032 cases recorded, bringing the total figure up to 171,253.

The number now exceeds that of the German and French totals and puts the UK fourth highest in the global list.

Across the country there have now been 27,510 coronavirus-related deaths in all settings, not just in hospitals.
