Local residents may experience disruption to their recycling collections in the coming days, with some properties in Honiton and Feniton missed off the round on Saturday.

A spokesperson for East Devon District Council said: "We are experiencing issues with our collections this week due to some of our crew self isolating.

"If your recycling has not been collected please leave your containers out for up to two days as we attempt to catch up."

See summary below for Honiton and Feniton:

02/01/21 – Some properties missed on this day. Please leave containers out for collection on 08/01/21.

Excess can be placed in a suitable box or carrier bags. Please separate as normal.

It comes as collection teams try to meet the challenges presented by extraordinary volumes of recycling and also the effects of a reduced workforce due to staff self-isolating.

They added: "Our crews are having to deal with an increasing amount of cardboard material at this time.

"If you have a large amount of cardboard please spread the amount over a few collections if possible.

"We are doing everything we can to reduce disruption and thank you for your patience during this challenging period."
