Despite the wet weather, approximately 170 people flocked to the Beehive's auditorium for yesterday evening's Honiton Town Council meeting.
The main focus was a discussion on the ongoing legal dispute between the charity who runs the Beehive, Honiton Community Complex and Honiton Town Council, who effectively own the building - or the mortgage that pays for it.
The dispute boils down to the amount of money that the HCC receive from the town council for the running of the centre.
Details within the lease agreement drawn-up when the Beehive first began to operate back in 2015 are being interpreted differently by the two parties involved.
The upshot being that the council could cease their payments, forcing HCC into administration and therefore pulling the plug on the current management of the premises.
The dispute came to a head last week when talks between HCC and HTC fell through.
The meeting was an emotionally charged affair with members of the public raising concerns and putting their questions to the town council.
Following an extended question time, each councillor took turns to address the public and express their own views and suggestions on the matter.
The meeting resulted in a positive step forward being made, with key members of both parties agreeing to sit down for talks on Thursday 17 October.
