A Few Remembering The Many in Honiton

The picture above shows East Devon Councillor Tony McCollum along with a handful of people who gathered at the Honiton War Memorial today to lay wreaths and stand in silence for two minutes as a mark of respect to all the United Kingdom, Commonwealth and United States soldiers who took part in the D-Day landings.

They showed the greatest courage imaginable as they took part in the landings 75 years ago today.

The beaches code named Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno and Sword took over 4,400 lives and injured more than 6,000 more, so much was the cost of freedom.
