UPDATE: All lanes have now been reopened and recovery work is complete.

Drivers are being warned that one lane remains closed on the A30 near Fairmile, due to an earlier incident involving a car on fire.

Nobody was injured.

Traffic is reported to be slow due to recovery work on the A30 Eastbound from Gosford Road (Fairmile) to B3177 (Fenny Bridges).

A statement from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue read: "Fire Control received a number of calls reporting a vehicle on fire along the A30 between Daisymount and the Patteson's Cross junctions.

"Fire engines from Topsham and Ottery St Mary were quickly mobilised and soon arrived on scene.

"Fire crews on the scene confirmed one vehicle was well alight on the hard shoulder.

"Police and Highways assisted fire crews with traffic to enable them to safely work on the fire.

"Fire crews successfully extinguished the fire using two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet, electric cutting equipment, one Compressed Air Foam System jet and small tools.

"Unfortunately the vehicle was completely destroyed by the fire.

"The incident was left in the hands of Highways.

"The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental."
