It takes a crisis for people to appreciate the true value of things, one of which being where and who we buy our essentials from.
In Feniton it is the Spar shop; family-run and stocked for every occasion - even the coronavirus so the local community have discovered.
Shop Manager, Gary Grove and his dedicated team have been working day in, day out to keep up with increased demand and to ensure that all members of the community are tended to.
Nub News caught up with Gary, who explained: "When it all started kicking off we couldn't get a lot of stock in, because suppliers prioritise the supermarkets so we set up a community dump bin.
"People donated essential items, such as loo roll and pasta in the dump bin and there was a charity box attached to it, so anyone could take what they needed and put some money in the pot.
"We raised about £80 from that over two weeks and then used the money to purchase items in store for our food bank which is a constant fall-back for whoever needs it.
"It's just another way we can give back to the community.
"We've also teamed up with two ladies, Jayne Blackmore and Cara Sanders, from Feniton Church who are delivering shopping for vulnerable people in isolation.
"They're giving up a lot of their time as volunteers to make sure nobody in the community is left stranded.
"They are doing a fantastic job - we really appreciate it!
"Our staff have also been incredible, putting themselves at risk and they're families too. It's a big ask.
"We've also been sourcing from local producers more who are currently struggling.
"The plants outside, supplied by Woodbeare Nurseries, have been flying off the shelves!
"As always we thank our customers who, apart from the odd one or two, have been really supportive."
