A Honiton woman has shaved her head raising nearly £400 for charity, with the original aim being £300.

After putting it to the public on social media, 31-year-old, Chesca Hayden chose Devon Freewheelers as the charity to benefit from the fundraiser.

She explained: "I decided to raise money for charity by shaving my head. After careful consideration, the charity I chose was Devon Freewheelers.

"The work they do goes above and beyond for our community.

"I really couldn't have done this without the support from my family and friends so would like to thank everyone for donating in what is such a difficult time.

"There is a lot of stigma, backlash, and words for anyone who shaves their head. Especially as a female, who generally experience more body shaming and lack confidence as a result."

So far Chesca is nearing the £400 mark, let's all get behind her empowering fundraiser and help support an incredible cause - which is even more poignant given the current situation with coronavirus.

"Thank you so much to everyone who has donated and the kind words from everybody," Chesca added.

A spokesperson for the charity commented: "Devon Freewheelers are extremely grateful to Chesca for raising such a fabulous amount of money for the charity, which will be used to help maintain the blood bikes during the Covid-19 pandemic and beyond.

"Well done Chesca for braving the shave!"
