Fire services called to roof fire at Fenny Bridges

Three fire appliances from Ottery St Mary, Honiton and Middlemoor were mobilised following calls to a property fire at Fenny Bridges today (July 10) just before 1pm, after a flat roof had caught fire.

A spokesperson for Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue said: "Crews were on the scene within minutes and soon had the fire under control and contained to a small area of the roof using one hose reel jet.

"The gas board were also requested after a gas main was ruptured.

"Crews made the scene safe and stood by awaiting their arrival.

"Once on the scene and the gas isolated, crews left duty of care with the owner and gas board. There was no further fire spread or casualties, the incident was brought under control at 15:09."
