Local cancer charity, Force, received first prize for their stand at the 129th Honiton Agricultural Show which took place yesterday, Thursday 1 August.

A team of volunteers spent the day talking to people and making visitors feel welcome. Tombola, a pop-up shop, knitted toys and fabric owls were also on offer.

They managed to collect in the region of £600-£700 throughout the day, which will go towards supporting families going through cancer treatment.

Force need to raise £82,000 per year to enable the one day a week chemotherapy outreach at Honiton Hospital.

Steve Craddock, volunteering for Force on the day, said: "The judges came around and had a chat and later on we discovered we had won first prize - we even received a trophy.

"It was because it was well laid out and very friendly.

"It was absolutely wonderful - a really lovely day. We were so pleased that so many people came to see us" Steve added.

The Force stand will be at the upcoming Honiton Gate to Plate event with more fundraising activities.
