UPDATE on racially aggravated assault in Honiton

Police are currently investigating the circumstances around two incidents of racially aggravated assaults after a disorder outside an Indian restaurant in New Street, Honiton, at around 6pm on Saturday 6 July 2019.
A male had reportedly made racist remarks and then assaulted two men. One victim was punched in the face and the other victim was bitten before the offender fled the scene.
Sector Inspector Lee Groves said: "Our enquiries are currently ongoing into this matter. A 24-year-old man was interviewed under caution on July 27 which is currently being progressed.
"The local neighbourhood team have visited the victim to support safeguarding and will continue to support them throughout.
"Our Response team have taken witness statements, trawled CCTV, interviewed a suspect and continue to investigate the case.
"We wish to reassure the community that officers are actively working on this incident and any criminal activity has to be investigated thoroughly.
