There is currently a public consultation underway on the future of The Beehive.

Members of Honiton Town Council are outside St. Paul's Church inviting members of the public to have their say on how The Beehive should be run.

The Beehive's finances have been affected by Covid-19 and rising bills. It is owned by Honiton Town Council (HTC) and they are considering a range of options, but they hope to keep it open. The council leased the building to Honiton Community Complex in 2015 for 10 years, and they are now considering their next steps.

People who wish to take part are asked to complete a short survey stating their preferences.

At 11am there were already a dozen people reading information boards and talking to councillors.

Town Clerk Stephen Hill told Nub News: "Honiton Town Council wish to keep the community venue and the services they offer open.

"The council think The Beehive is an important facility for Honiton.

"The number of people here today shows us the strength of feeling for The Beehive, and it's a good thing that they decided to consult members of the public."

If you cannot attend the event you can have your say via the Honiton Town Council website.
