RIP John Treagood. The sight of you brightening up our verges will be sorely missed.
RIP John Treagood. The sight of you brightening up our verges will be sorely missed.

According to a post on social media today, John Treagood has sadly passed away.

A close friend of the much-loved traveller wrote: "It is with great sadness and a broken heart that I have to write this post today.

"I am sorry to say that the legend, the gentleman, and our dearest friend John Treagood passed away peacefully last night at 10pm.

"John had been feeling his age and his health had been declining for a little awhile, but as always the proud man that he was, did not want anyone to know, which as always was respected.

"Many of you will have memories of John, whether that be of him sitting beside his fire having a cuppa, tending to his horse or sitting with him an having a natter.

"On behalf of John, I would like to say a massive Thank you to everyone that has been John's friend over the years, that has helped him, bought his book and respected his way of life."

A Just Giving donation page has been set up in honour of John and to pay for for the send off he deserves.

Any remaining money after the funeral will be split between looking after his beloved pets and donating to the World Horse Welfare charity.

Nub News was lucky enough to sit down with John in June of this year.
