On Friday (21 October) a big tidy up will take place on St. Paul's Estate in Honiton as part of a Community and Social Value Day.

The event is being held for residents in sheltered accommodation, as well as neighbouring areas.

There will be free pizzas and drinks and East Devon District Council (EDDC) are hoping for a big turn-out.

A range of activities will be taking place on the day to help residents.

Overgrown area will be trimmed back, de-weeded and new planters will be made and fitted. In addition, there will be a free skip for residents to use.

Handymen and women will also be available to carry out small repairs for residents, or they can inspect properties with a view to booking in larger maintenance works.

The event is being hosted by EDDC and Ian Williams Ltd., the company which is responsible for maintaining Devon's social housing.

Councillor Dan Ledger, EDDC's portfolio holder for sustainable homes and communities, said: "EDDC and Ian Williams are back again for what I hope will be another hugely successful community event, this time in Honiton.

"Please come along to chat, engage or even to lend a helping hand. We'll be around all day to help where we can and I'm looking forward to seeing as many of you there as possible!

"Please also keep an eye out for our other social value days in the not-too-distant future, Axminster has our Christmas spot this year."

The event is being held on Friday 21 October between 11am and 4.30pm on St. Paul's Road, Honiton.
