Honiton Carers enjoy successful 'Walk and Chat' in Exeter
Well I think we can safely say that todays Connecting You "Walk & Chat" to Exeter was successful despite the weather. Thankfully some of our walkers were proactive and brought brollies with them.
We caught the 13.16 train from Honiton Station and arrived at Exeter Central at 13.37pm.
It was fun buying a group ticket for 15 people and, having booked the ramp in advance, Alex who we met at Axminster Station last week and who was on duty today at Honiton, had the ramp ready for us when the train pulled in.
He even warned the guard on the incoming train that the same group of "old ladies" they met last week, would be boarding at Honiton. The cheek of it!
Alex is the nicest and most helpful man on two legs so no offence was taken. The ramp was also ready for us on arrival and departure at Exeter. Very good service which made it easy for me to check everyone safely on and off. We all teamed up with a buddy, and were responsible for each other which helped me a lot. Thank you all for being so delightful to travel with.
We walked up through Northernhay Gardens right to the other end, turned around and came back. Sadly it started to rain quite heavily so some of us got pretty wet.
The idea was to enjoy our refreshments at the Exploding Bakery and then have a second walk around the Gardens, however as it was still raining most of the group went for some retail therapy in M&S, Primark and Superdrug.
Safely together again as a group, we caught the train back from Exeter at 16.29 and arrived safely back in Honiton 21 minutes later where the ramp was awaiting us.
We couldn't have wished for a more smooth journey and we are all looking much forward to the next one on 15 March to Sherborne, this time with an even larger group.
