Honiton Carers have been participating in Carers Week which runs from Monday 5 June - Sunday 10 June.

Today (Tuesday 6th June) we 'Walked a Mile with a Smile' at Knighthayes who are also participating in Carers Week.

Devon Carers 'Mile with a Smile' campaign returned this year with even more people wanting to participate. They asked everyone to walk, roll, stroll or jog a mile to contribute to their aim of 350 miles, the total perimeter of Devon!

With people taking a photo of themselves smiling on their mile and sharing them on social media by tagging #milewithasmile, They hope to raise awareness of carers throughout Devon.

If you are an unpaid carers you too can participate in #milewithasmile on social media with your miles travelled (they even have gifs so do add them!) or email them to [email protected] 

By sending your photo you are giving Devon Carers permission to use it in their promotion of their campaign on social media, website and in their magazine.

Alternatively, you can just let them know how many miles you have completed without sending a photo by emailing [email protected]

Paula Clarke - National Trust Volunteering & Community Manager - Dartmoor - commented "We've been working in partnership with Devon Carers for over three years, providing carers with some well-deserved time out in beautiful surroundings and ensuring our staff and volunteers access carer awareness training.

"Castle Drogo has also become a Carer Friendly Devon Supporter, which values carers visiting the property and estate, as well as supporting staff and volunteers who are carers. We are very pleased that many of our venues are taking part in Carers Week this year and are offering free entry for carers on our special event days."

Honiton Carers are one of the Co-ops chosen 3 causes for 2022/2023, we will be at Honiton Co-op on Saturday 10th June raising awareness of unpaid carers in our community. Please come and visit our stand. We shall be there from 9.00 - 6pm and look forward to seeing you there. We are able to do a referral to Devon Carers on the stand if you haven't already signed up.
