Combe Farm Shop has won six gongs in the 2023 Taste of the West Awards. 

The awards include Gold for farm shop, Golds and Silver awards for sausages and Gold for butcher's shop. 

Joanna Marker, the manager of the Farm Shop and Café, told Nub News: "We are beyond thrilled to have won two awards this year, not just for Farm Shop but for our butcher's counter too. 

"The team works hard to provide a unique and diverse daily offering of locally sourced meat and consistently surprise me with what they can do. Being a small team and getting recognised for how hard we work is wonderful."

Last week a mystery shopper paid the farm shop, which is located just outside Honiton, an unannounced visit to take a look around and taste their products. 

The farm shop entered four different types of sausages: smoked bacon, beans and cheese, three cheese and onion, sweet chilli and Irn Bru and winter medley. 

They won two gold and two silvers for the sausages and will find out later this year whether the sausages which won gold will progress to the finals to win overall Champion Product of the year. 

It is the third year in a row they have won a gold award for their sausages - last year they won gold for their unusual goat sausages. 

The judges praised the farm shop for offering good value for money and selling a great range of products.

"The products we tried were so good, we would buy from them again. The shop is committed to local sourcing with the majority of produce coming from the West Country and, more specifically, from Devon.

"Everyone we met was extremely friendly and the owner was very welcoming and more than willing to talk about the products on offer.

"The shop was clearly part of the farm and was well presented with tables and chairs for the adjoining café in the courtyard with lovely flowers growing in pots and beds, giving a wonderful ambience to the experience."
