Honiton Fire Service attend scene after out of control bonfire spreads and destroys workshop and vehicle

By Kate Baxter 8th Jun 2023

Honiton Fire Service recently attended an incident where a bonfire had got out of control.

Both of Honiton's appliances were needed to help put out a bonfire which had got out of control and had destroyed a workshop and a vehicle.

A statement from Devon and Somerset Police said: "In this dry weather, it is very easy for a small bonfire to get out of control. The grass is dry and fire can quickly spread.

"We recently attended an incident where a bonfire had destroyed a workshop and vehicle.

"Please avoid bonfires in dry weather. If you must have one, use a metal incinerator to contain it and locate it away from anything flammable."
