Yesterday (1 September) Honiton fire responders assisted at a fire in Cheriton Bishop, near Exeter.

After receiving emergency calls three fire engines were immediately sent out to the scene.

The crew in attendance then requested additional support, including for water pumps.

The fire involved a village hall. The roof of the property was on fire, as well as the property's solar panels.

The fire had spread from the solar panels to the rest of the roof, which was completely destroyed. The remainder of the building was damaged by heat, smoke and water.

Eight fire engines attended the scene. They came from a range of stations in the local area, including Honiton, Exmouth and Crediton.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
