Devon's Hospiscare charity have organised three fundraising events this spring to help celebrate its 40th Birthday and to raise essential funds.

East Devon's Hospiscare Fundraiser Toni Hiscocks told Nub News how important the charity's work is and the challenges they are facing: "Hospiscare turns 40 this year! Help us celebrate and pop along to one of our many events across East Devon, helping us to raise vital funds for your end of life charity Hospiscare."

"It's been such a difficult couple of years, let's support these events and bring the community back together again!

"Many people think that we are a national charity, but Hospiscare is local covering Exeter, Mid and East Devon.

"Hospiscare is not part of the NHS. Our service is free to our patients, however it currently costs £8 million each year to run our service and we have to raise 82% of this within our local community, the rest coming from NHS funding.

"The charity needs to continue to raise money, especially vital in these uncertain times ensuring our service continues into the future.

"Hospiscare needs the support of the community and the community needs the expertise support of our Specialist Community Nurses to continue to deliver care for the future!"

What are the events?

Saturday 23 April: Coffee Morning at Wimple Victory Hall 10 - 12pm.

Saturday 7 May: Tabletop Sale at West Hill Village Hall 9.30am - 4pm.

Saturday May 21: Otter Vale Plants Sale at The Institute in Ottery St Mary 10am - 1pm

How can I support Hospiscare?

You can support Hospiscare by buying items in their charity shops, organising an event, volunteering with them or simply by popping along to their events and buying a cake or two! Or you can make a donation here.
