13th Jul 2022 | Local News

Yesterday (July 12) a knife was handed into Honiton Police Station after being found hidden in an area of Honiton.

The knife was taken by police officers who then carried out open area weapon searches in parts of Honiton.

There was a further development yesterday evening. Whilst the Neighbourhood Team conducted plain clothes patrols on foot, a male fled from the officers and in doing so dropped a knife.

This male was located by the police and was arrested on suspicion of a bladed article.

The police wish to reassure the public that knife crime is not common in Rural East Devon and a zero tolerance policy is taken. Anyone found in possession of a knife or weapon will be dealt with appropriately.

If you are concerned about someone who you believe is carrying a knife please call 101 or email [email protected]. If you wish to report information confidentially you can do so by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 or via the charity's website.

If there is an emergency please call 999.
