A Devon photographer has won an award at the Thelma Hulbert museum in Honiton.

Kyle Baker, who lives in Sidmouth, won best emerging artist aged 25 and under at the gallery's Open Exhibition.

The gallery received a record number of submissions this year - over 400 - including an unprecedented number from recent graduates and people aged 25 and under.

All the artwork submitted will be displayed at the gallery until 28 October.

Kyle has won a solo exhibition in the gallery's project space where he will be able to display lots of his own work.

Visitors to the gallery are able to vote for their favourite piece in the Visitor's Choice category and the winner will win £100.

Kyle told Nub News: "It was a great experience. I don't often enter competitions but after taking this image earlier in the year I had several messages and comments about getting it entered into competitions and galleries.

"I saw that the Thelma Hulbert had an Open Exhibition competition so thought I would give it a go!

"I can't believe I won - over 400 entries and I won the under 25 category! Now I have to start planning for next year, it will most likely feature my Nightscapes and Waves, a specialty and favourite of mine.

"The Gallery is definitely worth a visit, it is free to enter and there is a wide range of talent!"

You can find out more information about the exhibition here.
