Strike action which was planned for 15 and 17 September will not go ahead following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

South Western Railway (SWR) was preparing for strike action which was due to affect the South West. It has now been suspended by the trade unions – a move welcomed by SWR.

A statement from SWR said: "At a time of national mourning, we are united with the rest of the railway family in sending our condolences to His Majesty The King and the whole Royal Family."

SWR will now reinstate the trains which were scheduled to be cancelled. In addition, the company is considering possible future changes to help the nation commemorate Her Late Majesty.

The Queen's funeral is taking place on Monday 19 September, which is to be a Bank Holiday. Customers are advised to check timetable updates regularly here and they should expect services to be extremely busy.
