Honiton Police are looking for volunteers
Devon and Cornwall Police have advertised three volunteer positions which are based at Honiton's station.
PC Steve Mingo is part of Honiton's Neighbourhood Police Team. He explained that although Devon and Cornwall have a Special Constabulary team, which is made up of volunteer police officers, not everyone feels comfortable volunteering for a frontline role.
He said: "We now have vacancies at Honiton for Cadet Leaders, Vehicle Checkers and Local Policing Support personnel.
If you want to get involved in the exciting world of Policing in your spare time, then please visit our website to find out more about each role."
The roles
- Volunteer Vehicles Checkers will be responsible for checking and monitoring Honiton's fleet of marked and unmarked police cars.
- Local Policing Support Volunteer is a versatile role, and it will enable the individual to become familiar with various aspects of local policing. Responsibilities could include helping at local events, distributing newsletters, helping to update the website and administrative tasks.
- Volunteer Cadet Leaders will work with the Volunteer Police Cadet (VPC) groups, who volunteer within local communities at events and in the station. You will support their role and provide a friendly face.
If you are interested in applying for any of the three roles, you can apply here.
