Honiton Scouts help break World Record in 'Camp at Home' global challenge

Last night (April 30) 1st Honiton Scout Group participated in a 'Camp at Home' event for Scouts all over the globe.

Over 50 members of the 1st Honiton Scout Group set up camp in their homes and helped to break a world record.

Group Leader, Helen Turner said: "All of us are so pleased that we helped to set a World Record.

"Our members built some brilliant dens, tents and even a hammock in a garage which participants slept in.

"I just heard on the radio news them talking about the Camp at Home World Record - it's exciting to be part of something so big."

Northumberland Scouts set up the challenge for Scout groups all over the world to join in with.

According to them, there were 'over 84,000 participants and 67 countries from all over the globe took part.'

The top 10 Countries were UK, Canada, Australia, USA, New Zealand, UAE, Jersey, Falkland Islands, Ireland and Oman.

Other countries joining in were Croatia, Hong Kong, Malawi, Czech Republic, Mauritius and Grand Cayman.
