Earlier today Nub News reported that Ukrainians were struggling to apply to UK visas due to the requirement to visit an immigration centre.

The Member of Parliament for Honiton and Tiverton, Neil Parish, told Nub News that the UK government had to act with much greater urgency to change UK visa policies to allow Ukrainians to enter the UK.

More than two million people have fled Ukraine because of the war.

It was announced today that from Tuesday 15 March, any Ukrainian with a passport or an ID card can apply to enter the UK entirely online, without the need to visit an immigration centre.

The policy amendment will apply to people who are applying to join family members who are already in the UK. Biometric data, such as fingerprints, will now be given once people are in the UK.

In a statement to the House of Commons, Priti Patel, the Home Secretary, said: "I am in the position to announce that vital security checks will continue on all cases.

"From Tuesday, I can announce that Ukrainians with passports will no longer need to go to a visa application centre to give their biometrics before they come to the UK.

"They will receive direct notification that they are eligible for the scheme and can come to the UK."

Neil Parish has been approached for a response.
