Honiton Town Council recently unveiled a new bench on Honiton High Street to mark the coronation of King Charles III.

The new Mayor of Honiton, Cllr Helen Hurford, attended the event along with the Deputy Mayor Cllr Tony McCollum, ex-mayor Cllr Serena Sexton, Honiton Town Crier Dave Retter and Reverend of St. Paul's Church, Sue Roberts.

The bench was designed and created by Julian and Alex Rowe of Gittisham Forge.

It is located outside St. Paul's Church.

Honiton marked the coronation of the new monarch with a celebration in Allhallows field, street parties and the planting of a commemorative tree on the Millennium Green.

The Mayor said: "I am delighted to unveil the King's Coronation bench. Thank you to everyone involved in making this possible, including Reverend Sue Robert's for allowing us to replace the bench outside the church and Gittisham Forge for designing and creating such a beautiful piece.

"I hope it provides a resting place for weary shoppers, a place for friends to stop and chat or simply a seat to watch the world go by."
