Honiton: Would you like to learn Spanish?
A Honiton mum-of-two is offering Spanish lessons after people heard her talking Spanish in town and enquired whether she offered lessons.
Isabel Varela is originally from La Rioja in northern Spain. She has worked and lived in different countries all around the world but settled in Honiton two years ago with her family.
She has more than twenty years education experience and is trained in environmental science.
Isolbel and her husband, who is English, are raising their two children bilingual.
She told Nub News: "I moved to Honiton with my family a couple of years ago and we are still trying to learn all the little alleyways and secret paths that connect this wonderful town. It really is full of them!
"The first time I visited Honiton I instantly thought the friendliness and easy going vibe reminded me of my homeland."
Many of Isobel's friends and family have asked her to teach their children Spanish and this is something she will consider at a later date.
However, from September, Isobel will be offering Spanish lessons to anyone aged over 16. The lessons are intended for beginners and will take place on Mondays and Fridays in small groups.
The cost is £10 per hourly lesson.
She said: "I will teach anyone between 16 and 100 (anyone over 100 that wants to learn gets free lessons) from September.
"I am lucky enough to work at Budleigh Salterton Library and I love libraries and museums, so I hired a little space in our very own Honiton Library.
"My lessons will be fun and inclusive, and we'll also touch on culture and tradition and Spanish cuisine (or should I say cocina)."
If you are interested in signing up for lessons of finding out more information, you can email [email protected] or find Isobel on Facebook here.
