Coronavirus has wiped events clean off the agenda for the foreseeable future, in the hope of stemming the spread. Small, public-facing businesses are hit hard by the current crisis.
James and Rochelle - co-founders of the beautiful blue Howling Wolf Coffee trailer, who have become a familiar and friendly feature of Honiton's market - are asking the community for a helping hand.
In a statement on their newly created Crowdfunder page, they said: "Sadly, like a lot of small businesses at the moment, the global COVID-19 pandemic has created a very uncertain landscape which is going to make it very challenging for our business to survive.
"Over the last week, we have lost a vast majority of our events for this year and we are currently operating at a loss of up to £5000, solely from the pitch fees for these events and predicted earnings based on 2019.
"We are expecting more events to be cancelled in the coming weeks, and this figure is likely to rise significantly.
"Along with this, as the trailer sits in our garden, we are still paying in excess of £500 every month to keep it ticking over.
"With no information on when we may be able to trade again, these monthly outgoings are incredibly daunting given it is not bringing in any money at this time.
"Having to sell the Wolf Pup is the very last thing we want to do, but it is something that we may need to consider. However, we're hoping that by crowdfunding, we're able to stay open past the pandemic, and continue working on creating some truly excellent coffee."
Crowdfunder are offering up their platform to allow all UK small businesses to pre-sell their product for cash now on a promise to redeem these at a later date.
